Artist Statement:

“I am a transmasculine mixed media artist that probes the boundaries of my body and carves open its relationship to pleasure, grief, trauma, and queerness. 

I predominantly work with photography, painting, embroidery, and original poetic text. I stage elaborate self portraits as drag performances that parade gritty, colorful, camp depictions akin to filmmaker John Waters and performance artist David Hoyle. My illustrations expose my ever fracturing transgender body and its physiological and psychological processes, inspired by the sickeningly sweet stylings of psycho pop aesthetics.

Through my mixed media approach, I embrace the historically pejorative understanding of craft and employ it as an agent of queer art making. This allows me to further investigate the roles of craft and camp within the personal, political, and democratically handmade, and connects me to the rich, tangible, history of queer community.”
